Body Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) At the IES, we see many patients who have tried without success to lose that extra paunch of skin and fat on their lower belly. We see this particularly true with women following childbirth or with people who have undergone significant weight loss. Where diet and exercise fail to deliver a sleek, toned abdomen, a tummy tuck often provides the solution for our patients. During a tummy tuck at our center, we make an incision beneath the bikini line from hip to hip and a smaller one around the navel. Once the skin and abdominal muscles are separated, we tighten the muscles of the abdomen, folds the skin flap back in place and trim away excess skin. The final incisions can usually be hidden beneath a modest bathing suit or underwear. After surgery both women and men, enjoy a beautifully flat and sculpted abdomen. In some selected patients, we can utilize a more minimal incision, often eliminating the need to cut around the navel. If you think you might be a good candidate for a tummy tuck, please let us hear from you today. Liposuction For many of our patients, maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly are not enough to remove the extra pockets of fat that often develop in the body's problem areas: chin, neck, arms, stomach, hips, buttocks, legs, or ankles. For these patients, we offer liposuction as a way of targeting these problem areas to give the body a more toned and sculpted appearance. When we perform a liposuction, we make a small incision in the target area. Next, a cannula (narrow tube) is inserted through the incision, vacuuming away and discarding unwanted fat. Liposuction, is a safe and highly effective procedure, delivering natural and pleasing results with a recovery that is often shorter than anticipated. Massive Weight Loss (Bariatric) With the recent popularity of Gastric Bypass surgery, many patients have successfully lost tremendous amounts of weight, but are still left with excess skin that can not only be unsightly, but may be prone to rashes and infections. Our team is expert in body-sculpting after gastric bypass surgery and performs procedures such as body lifting, thigh lifting, arm lifting, tummy tucks and breast lifts. Body Lift We sometimes see a patient that needs help enhancing more than one area of the body. This is often the case for women following multiple childbirths or for bariatric surgery patients who have undergone extreme weight loss. In these situations, a body lift is often the preferred option. Women seeking a body lift have usually been through childbirth and breastfeeding and are finding it difficult to get their breasts and abdomens back into the shape they were in before pregnancy. Patients of successful weight loss, meanwhile, usually seek out a body lift looking to eliminate folds of loose, sagging skin on legs, arms, neck and torso. A body lift can involve a number of types of procedures, depending on your body's needs. For weight loss patients, we will trim excess skin away and tighten underlying muscles. For women following pregnancy, we may perform a tummy tuck and breast lift, possibly including breast augmentation, to restore a trim, full figure. To find out more about body lifts or to discuss your particular circumstances with us, please contact us today. Upper Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) Weight fluctuations and the process of aging can both cause skin to slowly lose its elasticity. As a result, many people find themselves with loose, sagging skin on the upper arms, particularly those people who have undergone successful weight loss. An upper arm lift can restore a shapely appearance to the arms by removing and tightening excess skin. We often combine liposuction with incisions placed along the inside of the underarm or within the armpit to minimize scarring. If you would like to learn more about an upper arm lift, please contact us. Thigh Lift (Thighplasty) As in the case of the upper arms, the thighs are also an area of the body vulnerable to weight fluctuation and loss of skin elasticity. A thigh lift is commonly performed on people who have succeeded with massive weight loss to tighten up loose folds of skin on the upper legs. The procedure, however, can be performed on anyone who would like to have trimmer, more toned thighs and has tried without success to accomplish this through diet and exercise. During a thigh lift, the surgeon removes excess skin and tightens underlying tissue. We often combine this procedure with liposuction, depending on the circumstances. Buttock Implants Many men and women are simply dissatisfied with the size, shape and contour of their buttocks. Underprojected, flat and/or sagging buttocks do not fit their ideal self-image. Body-image is an important part of feeling good, desirable and confident. For many this surgical procedure can make a dramatic impact in the quest for the body beautiful. Buttock implants, also known as gluteal augmentation, gluteal implants or gluteoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to add fullness and projection to the underprojected or flat buttock area. This procedure involves inserting a soft high grade, solid silicone implant into the muscular space of the buttock area. It is important also to understand that the definition and contour of the buttocks is due in great part to the size and shape of the surrounding tissues. Excess and localized fat deposits of the hips, waist, low back and upper thighs may obscure the definition and shapely contour of the buttocks. Frequently liposuction of any combination of the hips, waist, low back and upper thighs is done simultaneously with buttock implants to further enhance the shape and contour of the buttocks. Calf Implants Many men and women are dissatisfied with the size and shape of their calves. Calf augmentation, or calf implants, is a surgical procedure that uses soft, solid silicone implants to increase the size and enhance the shape of the calves. Reasons for calf augmentation are varfied and include cosmetic enhancement and reconstructive necessity. Men and women body builders often use calf augmentation to enhance the fullness, shape and bulk of the calf muscles when exercise falls short on further development. Others choose calf implants to improve proportions, definitions and curves of the lower legs for simple muscular enhancement or to correct the appearance of thin and/or bowed legs. Calf implants can also be used to correct asymmetry in calf muscles from trauma or genetic birth deformities such as in polio, spina bifida and clubfoot. |
